Topic: “Characteristics of a modern test process”

Most of the well-known test methods where originated when the world looked different. Back than making comprehensive strategies and plans was important, (test) engineering was focussed on doing things thoroughly and following (international) standards was important for organizations. Now other values are considered more important like speed, craftsmanship, flexibility, goal orientation and pragmatism. In this talk Jan Jaap will consider the changes testers and test organizations face today and explore the consequences of these changes for the test process and the individual tester.

Workshop: “Exploratory testing”

Exploratory testing is becoming more popular and in Agile organization very well applicable. But a lot of testers confuse exploratory testing with unstructured testing. In this workshop the attendees will learn how to structure an exploratory testing session to get the most benefits out of it. You will not only learn how to do an exploratory testing session in theory but you will also prepare, execute and evaluate a structured exploratory testing session in practice.

In this workshop both the theory as well as the practical application of structured exploratory testing will be covered. You will learn how to prepare an exploratory testing session, what the tips and trick during execution are, how you should evaluate the session and what documentation you can produce. You will immediately apply what you have learned because you will actually prepare, execute and evaluate an structured exploratory testing session. During the practical part of the workshop you will test a real application.
