Having started out in computer operations at a firm of builders’ merchants in 1968, Steve became a programmer on some of the earliest phototypesetting systems then found himself working as a specialist tester at IBM and hasn’t looked back! Since then he has worked as a test manager and test consultant for many companies including IBM, Unisys, EDS, and Capita. During his testing career, he has mainly worked as a consultant, successfully planning, preparing and delivering testing on many different projects for many clients including Euroclear, Barclays, Old Mutual Group, Halifax, Adams Childrenswear, Ecclesiastical Insurance, Abbey National, ABN Amro, and Metropolitan Police.
Steve is now a Principal Consultant at TSG in London where he performs a number of different roles including technical pre-sales and test consulting, where he creates innovative testing approaches and strategies for TSG’s clients, as well as testing project delivery.

Many projects start thinking about UAT at the last minute and just tell the business users that “you need to test this and sign it off”. This presentation demonstrates why this isn’t the right way and looks at how the test team should engage with the business community and use their expertise to design, develop and execute UAT.
