About Geoffrey van der Tas

Geoffrey is an enthusiastic professional and a real explorer. As an explorer he likes to discover new things, learn more and get inspired. His career started in testing as a tester, test manager and test consultant he helped to make sure software products obtained the high quality standard. But his curious and discovering nature was never satised with just testing.
His great passion is to inspire others, teach professionals and help companies with tackling their struggles. This also lead to becoming Dutch Software Testing Champion in 2018(after the 2nd place in 2017).

Testing in 2022

The IT world is drastically changing. Developments in ‘A.I.’, ‘Machine learning’ and ‘The Cloud’ are maturing rapidly. We have been hearing more and more about these technologies and we will hear about them even more in the coming years.

As a consultant I encounter many companies that are on the brink of adopting these technologies. They think they are stepping into an amazing new  IT world where everything is fixed automatically by the great new technologies.

What kind of impact will these technologies have for us as professionals in testing? Will our line of work still exist in the future? Is A.I. going to make us dispensable? Are machines going to learn faster then we do? Is the cloud the answer for not having infrastructure issues anymore? Many of these questions need to be addressed, with a special insight at the testing profession.

In this inspirational talk I’ll let you look into my “crystal ball’ to show you how our future will look like, and what we need to do to cope with these developments. Join this keynote, help us find answers and give your input in this session to make the future, our own…in 2022 and beyond.

Hear, Hear! Lets Talk Testing.

Fun and inciting session with time to discuss, debate and argue about our great testing profession! Learn from others and tell your views in the debate style of the house of commons! The style of debate in the House has traditionally been one of cut-and-thrust; listening to other Members’ speeches and intervening in them in spontaneous reaction to opponents’ views. This can make the Commons Chamber a rather noisy place with robustly expressed opinion, many interventions, expressions of approval or disapproval and, sometimes, of repartee and banter.
The statements we have now are:
-AI will replace every tester
-Anybody can test software, no need for testers
-Testing in the cloud, everything stays the same
-Test automation is better than manual testers
And others will follow during the session….

Powerful Refinements with BDD

Refinements are the start for you and your team of your product development in the Scrum. The start for building those awesome features & products. But are your refinements as effective as could be? Or are you not really refining yet and still have big analysis up front, keeping you stuck in a waterfall like way of working? Or are you still struggling with delivering increments within the short iterations in Scrum?

This workshop is all about getting started with Behavior Driven Development or BDD. This will help us to start delivering value faster and make Scrum work for us. All of this starts with doing powerful & productive refinements. That’s also were this workshop focusses itself on. Going from a product backlog item to ready for sprint and eventually delivered value(right the first time).
So, if you hate rework and want to deliver products faster, come to our workshop!
